Last week I wrote about Nina Pop and how she was the fifth black trans woman killed within a month. I am saddened to tell you that two more black trans women were murdered this last week. This is a larger problem than I knew. Riah Milton was from Ohio, and she was shot and killed on Tuesday by three people. Dominique “Rem’mie” Fells was also murdered this week and was found along the banks of a river in Philadelphia. She had serious injuries to her head and face, and her legs were separated from her body. They think she was over by a train. Not only are trans people gruesomely murdered, but they are also having some of their minimal rights stripped away. Today, during the Pride Month and the anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub shooting, the Trump administration has erased transgender civil rights protections in health care.
